Note: Image composite taken by DART spacecraft
Processed DART images of Jupiter and Galilean moons captured during onboard testing of the SmartNav Algorithm (i.e. computer algorithm that used real-time image processing to determine the spacecraft's autonomous maneuver decisions). The video shows from left to right: Ganymede, Jupiter, Europa, IO and Callisto. Europa is seen in transit, peeking from the lower right of Jupiter as it orbits around the planet.
Source: Images taken by the DART spacecraft on 2022-214.
Processing: The GIF is created from data encompassing 57m 55.8s of images, stabilized and sped up 900x.
