Hi, I'm Luis Rodriguez! I recently bought a telescope, and started to look up more often.
This website is a small collection of the astrophotography images I've taken as I explore this new hobby. I'm not a professional, just an amateur astronomer sharing the photons I've captured.
Since I started to look up, I've been focusing on planetary imaging. I've only taken a small amount of long exposure images of the night sky without an auto tracking mount (so you'll see some drift in the stars). I've also decided to share some moments where a simple iPhone camera, or DSLR can capture the beauty of space as diffracted by our Earth's atmosphere, a snapshot of those moments where we stop to look up.
As a recent member of the Amateurs Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh I have joined other members on the 3AP Sidewalk Astronomy series, of which I've decided to share some pictures. The hope is to bring space closer to people.
I'm not really from one place, my life has always kept me moving. Born in Cuba, traveled to Miami U.S.A at the age of 11. I moved to Baltimore MD at the age of 18 to attend college. Once I graduated I moved to Silver Spring MD near Washington D.C to work as a Flight Software Engineer. I spent 4 years in Pittsburgh and I am now back in Washington D.C.
I hope that some of these images bring you as much joy as they brought me.
